Cleaning Your Fabulous Fire Pit

Keeping your fire pit clean will help prolong its life.
Ashes hold water and leaving them in your firepit for prolonged periods of time can shorten the life of your firepit.

Never remove hot ashes.
Firstly, make sure the ash bed and firepit has fully cooled down.
​Never try to clean the firepit when the ashes or fire pit are hot and never dispose of hot ashes in your bin.

You'll need:
A soft brush.
A plastic dustpan.
A bin bag for cold ashes or a place to despose of them.
​Bucket of water or hose.

Scoop out the ashes using the plastic dustpan and brush and put them in a bag or suitable container. You can dispose of cold ashes in your bin or better still you can use them in your garden as a form of fertiliser for some plants. Ashes contain potash and some plants like this. Ashes are akaline, so don't put ashes on acid loving plants like azaleas, rhododendrons, camelias and heathers.

Wash off your firepit using plain water. There is no need to use soap, cleaners or abrasive products.
Take care not to damage or remove the paintwork from your firepit as this will allow rust to develop reducing the life of your firepit.
The fire proof paint will wear off over time, but this can be replaced.
